QUEENSLAND HOT ONE DAY AND VERY HOT THE NEXT

It is my 3rd day in Queensland.   After I left Trilby Station ( more on that stay later) I travelled north to the town of Bourke. Bourke had a no feeling about it. You know that one ; when you enter it , although you have some preconceptions or basic information about it; it does not match any of those.bourke

Bourke, from what I thought would be was, sadly, not. It was supposed to be a semi large town with a multi hotch potch of cultures. Many years ago it was to be the irrigated vegetable growing region for New South Wales , and the rest of Australia. But, alas, after much politicking, change of governments, at all levels, and drought the ONCE thriving orange orchards, tomato, asparagus, and other such vegetable irrigated areas are gone. Some were Managed Investment Schemes – you know the ones: where ‘city folk’ would be told of the riches to be made with certain taxation kickbacks etc only for ‘some’ to get the money and the rest to fight it out with the liquidators. All I saw were houses with large guard dogs, the supermarket with heightened security and a general feeling of apathy.

Even the information centre left a lot to be desired…

SO driving on I headed toward QLD. At the border there was no real fanfare just a narrow highway marked by a fence and no proper road side stop; like at other border crossings. I took this pic of the sign to give every one an idea of how far i am going.  The weather began to warm up and the wind ble from the NE. With only 120 kms’ to go to the next town; which was CunnaMulla.  todays mileage inside qld border 2

Like my star sign I am a typical Capricorn - tenacious, loyal, determined, honest, open minded, and dry sense of humour. I believe in astrology, intuition, spiritual matters and have a very healthy respect for all Buddhism. MY power number is 9. I was born at the end of a Dragon year. I am a very proud 5th generation Australian. I love to cook, read prolifically, write, and enjoy nature with all its wonderment. I love to cook especially for those who appreciate it. Like a great bottle of wine I am getting oh so much better with age. I have a natural curiosity and am constantly asking questions. I like to write and I wish I had become a librarian or researcher. Blogs help me get a "REAL FEEL" of what makes the world tick. Thank you every one for sharing.
